This Central European
nation had an extremely troublesome history rising to the level of major
regional power (in confederation with Lithuania) in the early 16th
century, falling to the total loss of independence some 250 years later and
painfully rebuilding its freedom during the 20th century.
During the 20th century, Poland had
several territorial disputes with her neighbors
and conflicts with her ethnic minorities going back to history. As of
today, most of them have been successfully resolved to greater or less
degree.
